Atheists More Motivated by Compassion than the Faithful

This isn’t surprising to me.

Obviously, religious people don’t perform acts of kindness simply to rack up goody points so that they can attain some kind of salvation in the end.

BUT, I think society as a whole has a better shot of surviving if people do good because the act itself is good and benefits the group, not because they hope to be rewarded individually later on.
