It’s a purple squirrel. Apparently not dyed or painted or any of that. Very confusing to people.
Professor Krish Pillai thinks it’s because the squirrel has been drinking some funky water:
That color looks very much like Tyrian purple. It is a natural organobromide compound seen in molluscs and rarely found in land animals. The squirrel has too much bromide in its system possibly from all the bromide laced frack water it’s been drinking.
But if that’s true, shouldn’t purple squirrels be a thing in that area? Who knows.
