2 on 5 →
This story is thrilling and tragic and bittersweet.   Twenty years ago, there was a hotly contested high school basketball game in Alabama.  The North Jackson Chiefs started the game with 9 players - 5 on the court, 4 on the bench.  But one by one, the Chiefs foul out until there are 17 seconds left in overtime and 2 Chiefs left on the court. 2 Chiefs against 5 Wildcats.  The game is tied.

Choire Sicha is wise.  Click through to read the rest of his wisdom. Because vampires and divas and underminers are so loud and distracting, they take up all the emotional energy that we should actually be devoting to the real enemy. This is why we never destroy the soulless careerists. This is, I think, the number one mistake that we make in the world of work. These are the boys who suck up to...

The love of a parasite is worth nothing →
Ayn Rand wrote the following reply to a fan.  Click through to read the whole letter. You asked me to explain the meaning of my sentence in The Fountainhead: “To say ‘I love you’ one must first know how to say the ‘I.” … Any person who wants to live for others — for one sweetheart or for the whole of mankind — is a selfless nonentity. An independent...
